We’ve partnered with Pawsitive Alliance for the #WhyNotMePets campaign to give difficult-to-home pets an extra paw up. These lovable pets are ready to find their forever homes.

MEET LAURIE.

Age/Gender/Size: 8 ½  Yrs. | Female | Medium-Large
Breed: Lab/Boxer Mix
Likes: Exploring, long walks, yummy treats
Dislikes: Sharing you with anyone else!
Special Considerations: Laurie has arthritis and needs daily medication

Laurie arrived to Woodinville’s Homeward Pet Adoption Center as a stray. She wasn’t doing so great; she had a skin infection and hair loss, but has since recuperated and is ready to find her forever home.  She’s 8 and a half-years-young and is always up for adventure.

“She loves to go for walks and to explore and play with toys,” said Kacey Bradley who is an adoption counselor at Homeward Pet. “She’s really, really smart. She loves training, but when she crashes and she’s tired, she is a good sleeper, so she will be a great snuggle companion for somebody.”

Bradley continues: “She’s just one of those dogs that makes you smile every time you see her and every time you interact with her. She’s learned the volunteers and the staff members, and she always lights up when she sees you! She’s just really, really special and will make a wonderful companion for someone.”

Because she was a stray, they recommend that Laurie is the only pet in an adult home (no kids). Bradley says that it’s probably the reason why she hasn’t been adopted yet: “She would like to live with teenagers or adults,” says Bradley. “No little kids for her. Other than that, we really can’t figure it out. She’s a really wonderful mix of everything that you would want in a dog.”

Laurie is on medication for arthritis, which she easily gobbles up when it’s in pill pockets or tucked into her food. She’s been fully vetted and is ready for her forever home at Homeward Pet Adoption Center in Woodinville, WA. For more information, visit their site: homewardpet.org or call 425.488.4444.

Every Wednesday, Healthy Paws will highlight a new pet from Pawsitive Alliance’s #WhyNotMePets campaign. Visit the #WhyNotMePets page for a list of adoptable dogs and cats.
