What Are ‘Why Not Me’ Pets?

For several years, Healthy Paws Pet Insurance & Foundation partnered with Pawsitive Alliance to support the #WhyNotMePets campaign to give hard-to-home pets in Washington State a better chance of finding their forever homes. We are no longer posting these stories to our website because the posts are only of interest in one state and quickly become outdated – hopefully because the pets have found a home.

Learn more about Pawsitive Alliance and ‘Why Not Me’ pets

Pawsitive Alliance is a nonprofit based in Bellevue, Wash. that works to help end the euthanasia of adoptable dogs and cats by increasing adoptions, supporting spay and neuter programs, and improving pet retention. The organization does not take in animals but works with rescue groups and shelter organizations, individuals, and businesses who want to help vulnerable pets. Pawsitive Alliance makes connections with local news and media outlets and other avenues to help give adoptable animals exposure that these rescue groups might not have the resources to attain.

While we are no longer participating, we fully support Pawsitive Alliance and their campaign to find homes for pets.

Here are some ways to get involved:

  • Please visit the #WhyNotMePets page on Pawsitive Alliance for a list of adoptable dogs and cats.
  • Visit Pawsitive’s Alliance’s Facebook page for the most up-to-date adoptable pet listings.
  • Donate or volunteer with Pawsitive Alliance.

Christy True and Tomas
By Christy True

Christy has been writing about pets for Healthy Paws for 21 dog years. She previously worked in journalism, hence her penchant for writing about offbeat animal studies and the latest viral pet trends. She has been owned by several dogs, and right now, Tomas, a Mexican street dog rescue, is staring at her because he wants a walk. Outside of work, she can usually be found sliding down a mountain near her home in Bend, Ore.
