Fine print. Confusing plan comparisons. Major policy exclusions. If you’ve never owned pet insurance, it’s nearly impossible to know where to start.
The Seattle Times completed a deep-dive series aimed at giving pet parents an honest, well-researched, 3rd party perspective on that very question: which company, among the 11 leading providers, has the best pet insurance?
In the series, journalist and dog owner, Neena Pellegrini, speaks with veterinarians, interviews animal-law attorneys and does extensive analysis in search of finding the right solution for her own dogs: Lidia & Hogan.
Her choice for best pet insurance, we’re proud to say, was Healthy Paws.
And while The Seattle Times’ choice may have been Healthy Paws, the main point here is not “we are the best.” The takeaway is more important and much less self-indulgent. It’s that you too should do your homework before choosing the plan that’s best in show for your cat or dog. Regardless of whether or not you choose Healthy Paws, it’s imperative to make a well-informed decision.
This means you should ask questions, get information and know why the plan you choose is the best plan. As a starting point, we recommend reading the other articles in Pellegrini’s 4-part pet insurance series, which you can find on the Seattle Times website at:
Part 1 – The hunt begins for pet insurance
Part 2 – Shopping for pet insurance, a vet’s view
Part 3 – The fine print in pet-insurance shopping
Part 4 – Shopping for pet insurance, the hunt ends
Lastly, it’s important to note that The Seattle Times article, which named Healthy Paws Pet Insurance as their choice for pet insurance, was completely unsolicited by Healthy Paws. Additionally, all price comparisons referenced in the article were based on sample redacted vet bills from multiple clinics – none of which are affiliated with Healthy Paws. The findings of Pellegrini and the Seattle Times were 100% unbiased.
Since this review was published, Healthy Paws has been named the #1 customer-rated provider of pet insurance four years in a row! See more unbiased reviews of Healthy Paws on PetInsuranceReview.com, PetInsuranceQuotes.com, and ConsumersAdvocate.org.
